5 Signs Your DIY Wix Website Is Costing You Customers

Lots of start up businesses begin with a DIY website. Platforms like Wix make it possible to get online quickly without a huge investment.
Then a some time down the line they realise that their self-built Wix site isn't doing them any favours.
Here are five signs your DIY website could be costing you enquiries, sales and opportunities.
1. Visitors Are Looking But Not Enquiring
One of the biggest warning signs is when people are visiting your website but very few are getting in touch.
This doesn't necessarily mean your services aren't attractive. It often means your website isn't guiding visitors towards taking the next step.
Ask yourself:
Is it immediately clear what you do? Or does your messaging need to be clearer?
Is it obvious who your services are for?
Are there clear calls to action throughout the site?
Is it easy to contact you?
Most visitors have the attention span of a gnat! If they have to work too hard to find answers, many will simply leave.
2. Your Website No Longer Reflects Your Business
Most businesses evolve over time.
You gain experience. You refine your services. You start working with different types of clients. Your confidence grows.
But many websites stay exactly the same.
If your website still reflects where your business was when you started out, it may be attracting the wrong people or underselling what you offer.
Your website should represent the business you have today, not the one you started with.
3. You Feel Uncomfortable Sharing Your Website
Have you ever hesitated before sending someone your website link?
Perhaps the design feels "off". Maybe the content no longer feels right. Or perhaps you've been meaning to update it for months but never quite get around to it.
That feeling is often a sign that your website isn't supporting your business as well as it could.
Your website should be something you're proud to share because it builds trust and reinforces your expertise.
4. Customers Keep Asking The Same Questions
A good website works as part of your sales process.
It helps potential customers understand what you do, how you work and whether you're the right fit for them.
If you're repeatedly answering the same questions, such as:
What exactly do you offer?
How much does it cost?
Who do you work with?
What's included?
then your website may not be providing enough clarity.
The more useful information your website provides, the more qualified and informed your enquiries tend to be.
5. You're Attracting The Wrong Enquiries
Your website doesn't just attract customers. It should also help filter out people who aren't a good fit.
If you're regularly receiving enquiries from people who want something completely different from what you offer, or who are only interested in then cheapest price then your messaging may not be clear enough.
The right website helps visitors quickly understand:
Who you help
What you do
How you work
Whether you're the right choice for them
This leads to better quality enquiries and more productive conversations.
Your Services Aren't The Problem. It's How You Are Projecting Yourself To The World
You are professional if everything you do but your website is not conveying that.
A website should do more than simply exist. It should help visitors understand your value, build trust and encourage the right people to get in touch.
If that's not happening, it may be time to explore getting professional help.
